Build words: a prefix, a suffix, a new word
On each line, two pieces: a word of the family and a prefix in front, or a suffix behind. Dé + coller, re + plier, jardin + ier, lait + age. The child puts them together and writes the word made. Lexikit only offers exact assemblies, where both pieces can be read as they are in the word: no “pomme + ier”, whose e falls. The words come from the Lexikit list of word families, reviewed one by one, in French, German and Spanish.

Frequently asked questions
Why are some words of the family not offered?
Lexikit keeps only exact assemblies, with a prefix or a suffix the child recognises. “Pomme + ier” is not offered, since the e falls in pommier. These words stay in the other worksheets of the family.
With the same words
Circle the rootThe words of a family on a line: jardin, jardinier, jardinage. The child circles in each one the part they share, the root.
Sort the words by familyThe words of two or three word families mixed at the top of the page, one house per family: chaton, laitier, jardinier to write under the right roof.
The silent letterLait or laid? The word laitier makes the t heard. The child completes each French word with its silent letter thanks to a word of its family.
