The silent letter: a word of the family makes it heard
On the left, a word of the family: laitier, grandir, dentiste. On the right, the word without its last letter: lai, gran, den, and a box. The child says the word on the left, hears the t or the d, and writes it in the box. It is the strategy French schools teach to spell the end of words. Lexikit only offers the families where a word really makes the letter heard.

Frequently asked questions
Why do some families give no line?
Only the families where a word ends with a silent letter, which another word of the family makes heard, give a line. The jardin family has no silent letter, so it is left out.
With the same words
Circle the rootThe words of a family on a line: jardin, jardinier, jardinage. The child circles in each one the part they share, the root.
Sort the words by familyThe words of two or three word families mixed at the top of the page, one house per family: chaton, laitier, jardinier to write under the right roof.
Write the wordCopy the word next to its picture, or write it from memory as a silent dictation: one box per letter, then the line.
