Six worksheets to read and name
Six worksheets join the “Read” family, from recognising a letter to the little word that goes before the noun.
Six worksheets join the “Read” family. They go from the simplest task to the finest: recognising a letter, then a word, then a word among others that look like it, and finally the little word that goes before the noun.
The six worksheets
“Read and find the picture” links a written word to its picture. “Look and find the right word” has the child circle the picture's word among similar words. “The word heard” is done with an adult who says the words, and their list is printed at the end of the PDF. “The missing syllable” has the child complete a word. “Letter or not?” has the child tell a letter from a number or another sign. “Un or une?” has the child choose the noun's article, which in French shows its gender.
Since 17 October 2026, “The missing syllable” is no longer among the worksheets, because the French back-to-school circular of 2026 asks teachers to avoid gap-fill texts.
Similar words
For the worksheet to make the child read, the words shown must look alike: “lapin”, “sapin”, “lampe” (rabbit, fir tree, lamp). With words that are too different, the child guesses from the length or the first letter. Lexikit searches the whole lexicon for the words closest in spelling, because your list alone rarely has enough of them.
Like every worksheet, they are made with your words, on paper or on screen.
