The four steps of writing

The writing path sorts the worksheets into four steps, from observing the word to the written sentence.

In “Create a resource”, the “Writing” tab sorts the worksheets into four steps: observe the word, write it, read it, then write sentences.

No official text sets steps for writing. This order follows the approach of the guide “Pour enseigner la lecture et l'écriture au CP” (Eduscol, 2019), on reading and writing in the first year of primary school. The word is first observed, then hidden, to be written “without the model” or “from dictation”.

The worksheets follow this progression. The model is shown beside the word, on the back, or not at all. The “Syllable puzzles” have the pupil rebuild the word syllable by syllable before reading it.
