366 more words in the French lexicon
The French lexicon receives the pictograms ARASAAC has published since January 2025: 366 new words and 160 more pictures.
The French lexicon of Lexikit used the ARASAAC pictograms as they were in January 2025. It now receives everything ARASAAC has published since: 366 new words, such as “pangolin”, “capybara”, “taco” or “card terminal”, and 160 more pictures for words that already had some. The categories of these pictograms follow. The English and Spanish lexicons gain about fifty words each.
Adding without breaking anything
Each word of the lexicon has a number, and your resources keep this number. Rebuilding the lexicon from scratch would have changed the numbers and emptied your resources. So the update works by addition: new words come at the end, new pictures after those a word already had, and nothing is removed.
The words you had changed keep your changes. They only receive what they were missing.
Data to check
The ARASAAC data contains typos, such as “acordéon” or “avoir cha”. A word almost identical to another on the same pictogram does not become a card, and doubtful cases are checked. For about a hundred old pictograms, the server no longer returns any tag. So Lexikit never removes a category and only adds new ones.
The same update can be done again with each ARASAAC release.
