The Happy Families game
Lexikit makes a Happy Families game with your words: one family per category, each in its colour, with the family list on each card.
Lexikit sorts your words by category and makes them into the families of the game: fruit, farm animals, clothes. Each family has its colour, and each card shows the other cards of its family.
A game named in the curriculum
The French curriculum for the first two years of primary school names Happy Families for working on categorisation: “In the fruit family, I would like the apple.” To ask for a card, the child names the category, then the word, then listens to the answer. The game therefore makes children speak and listen.
Complete families
Lexikit chooses the categories that have enough words in your list, from three to six cards each. The words left aside are listed separately in the left column, with the reason. You then know which words to add to form one more family.
The game prints as cards to cut out. It also plays on screen, by putting each card in its family.
