Say the word: the child names the picture, the device listens
A picture shows, the child says its name, and the device listens. It listens only for the words of your list: a word said clumsily finds its place, “it's a rabbit” too. If it did not understand, the voice says “I didn't hear you well” and the child tries again, then shows the picture among others. Never a “no”. The listening happens on the device, no sound is sent or kept. An activity for one child at a time, on their own, to bring back vocabulary. In French, English, Spanish and German.

In 3 steps
- Add your words: those of a theme or of the term, with their pictures.
- Choose the voice: the word not said, said first to be repeated, or said as a help after a first try.
- Start in full screen, or prepare an Independent mode routine: “Check the microphone” lets the adult allow the microphone before the child comes.
What you can set
- The word: not said, said first or said as a help
- Strictness, in French: lenient, medium, or strict to work on pronunciation
- Written word: after the answer or always
- Order of the pictures: the list's or random
- Move on by itself to the next picture after a right answer
Ways to use it
- Bring back the vocabulary of a theme, one child after another
- Have a word heard repeated, for children who speak little
- In an Independent mode routine, with a headset, while the group works
Frequently asked questions
Will a child who pronounces badly be refused?
Most of the time no: the device picks among the words of your list the one closest to what it hears. The activity checks that the child knows the word, not how it is pronounced.
Is an internet connection needed?
Only the first time: the listening gets ready (about 40 MB), then the browser keeps it. No sound leaves the device, nothing is recorded.
Can the whole class play?
No: with several voices at once, the listening does not work. It is an activity for one child at a time, close to the microphone.

Naming the picture aloud with “Say the word”
In the “Say the word” activity, the child names the picture into the microphone and Lexikit recognises the word. The sound does not leave the device.
Understand, memorise, reuse
The French curriculum describes three stages for learning a word: understand, memorise, reuse. The activities of Lexikit follow them.
A picture, a word, a voice
Lexikit always pairs a word with a clear picture and its pronunciation. What the Eduscol guide of 2020 asks for, and what memory does with it.
With the same words
Word sprintName as many words as you can before time runs out: the words of the list wait on the board as silhouettes and show up when a child says them.
Hidden pictureThe picture appears little by little, tile by tile or zooming out: who recognises it?
On-screen activitiesFive activities that only exist on screen. And every game, every worksheet also plays full screen with the class.
Your turn
Open Lexikit, write your words, choose a resource. All that is left is to print or to play. Free, no account, and your words stay on your device.
